What double glazing repairs cost
Indicative repair prices, published rather than hidden behind a visit.
Repairs are where this trade is at its worst for pricing. A misted pane gets quoted as a new window; a stiff handle gets quoted as a new door. Here is what the work actually involves and roughly what it costs, so you can tell whether you are being quoted a repair or sold a replacement.
These are indicative ranges. The real number depends on size, specification, access and how far we are travelling — we confirm it before any work starts.

When repair stops making sense
Repair while the frame is structurally sound and the fault is a component. Replace when the frame itself has failed — corner welds split, aluminium with no thermal break streaming with condensation, timber rotted past the joints — or when you are spending a meaningful fraction of a new window on a frame that will need the next repair soon.
One misted unit in a good frame: repair, obviously. Six misted units in 30-year-old frames with failing hardware: you are refurbishing a window that is nearly finished.
Why repairs get quoted as replacements
Because the margin is bigger and the commission is bigger. A company whose salespeople are paid on replacement value has no incentive to tell you the frame is fine. That is the entire reason we publish these numbers.

Questions
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a window?
Repair, in almost every case where the frame is sound. A misted unit is £80–£190 against several hundred for a new window.
Why was I quoted a new window for a misted pane?
Because replacement is worth more to the seller. The sealed unit and the frame are separate components, and a misted unit says nothing about the frame.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
We tell you the basis before we come. What we will not do is a free 'survey' that is really a sales visit.
Can you repair any make of window?
Most. Hardware is more standardised than it looks. Some older or discontinued systems need a pattern part — send a photo of the mechanism and we will tell you.
Are these prices supplied and fitted?
Yes, indicatively and including VAT. Supply-only parts are cheaper if you are fitting them yourself.
