What supply-only windows and doors actually cost
Supply-only windows and doors are priced on the product, the size, the finish and the glazing — in that order. There is no survey fee, no fitting in the number and no commission built in, which is the main reason a supply-only price sits well below a supplied-and-fitted quote for the same unit.
The six things that move the number
| Size | Price moves with area, not linearly with width. A unit 20% wider and 20% taller is roughly 44% more glass and frame, and the jump is sharper once a pane needs thicker glass to stay within deflection limits. |
| Finish | Standard white and the stock greys are the cheapest. A special RAL is a powder-coating batch of its own, so it carries both a cost and a lead-time uplift. Dual colour means coating twice. |
| Glazing | Clear double glazing is the baseline. Obscure, toughened, laminated, solar-control and triple all move the number, and toughened is mandatory in critical locations rather than optional. |
| Hardware | Handles, hinges, cylinders and multipoint locks vary more than people expect. A TS007 3-star cylinder costs real money and is worth it. |
| Quantity | A full house is cheaper per unit than one window — the setup, the coating batch and the delivery are all shared. |
| Delivery | Priced by area and load size. The delivery band for your postcode is on the price page and on your town's delivery page. |
Use the inc VAT / ex VAT switch in the header — retail wants the first, trade the second.
What a supply-only price includes
The complete unit made to your opening size: frame, hardware, locking and glazing, in a standard finish from the stock range, with the guarantee that goes with it.
What it does not include
Delivery, which is priced by area and load. Fitting, which is available and quoted separately. Removal of the old unit and making good. The building control fee, which you pay directly on a supply-only order because no registered installer was involved — what that means when you sell.
Getting an accurate number
Send the design code and the structural opening size and a written price comes back, normally the same working day, with the specification and a delivery date on it. How to measure · Supply only vs supplied and fitted
Prices — questions
Why do you not publish a single price per window?
Because every unit is made to a different size in a different finish with different glass. A single headline number would be the cheapest thing we ever sold, in white, in the smallest size — which is exactly the trick this trade is known for.
How much cheaper is supply only than supplied and fitted?
The fitting is the variable, not the product. On a straightforward like-for-like replacement fitting is typically a meaningful share of the total, and on a supply-only order you keep it or spend it on a fitter of your choosing.
Do you price for trade?
Yes. Trade accounts are quoted ex VAT on the same lead time. Say so when you send the sizes.
Is the price fixed once quoted?
The written quotation holds the specification and the price. If the sizes change, the price changes — which is why the structural opening is worth measuring properly first.
What is not in a supply-only price?
Delivery, fitting, removal of the old unit, making good, and the building control fee. Those are listed separately rather than buried.
