Aluminium sliding door cost

A two-pane aluminium sliding patio door of around three metres typically costs £3,000–£4,500 supplied and fitted. Slim-sightline systems and lift-and-slide gear push it higher; a plain two-pane slider is normally cheaper than a bi-fold of the same width.

What you're paying for

  • Pane sizeCost is driven by the size of the individual glass units, not just the total width. Two enormous panes cost more to make, glaze and handle than three moderate ones.
  • SightlineStandard systems run 40–50mm at the interlock. Slim systems reach around 20mm — a significant premium, and it is the single biggest price lever on a slider.
  • Lift-and-slideBetter sealing and effortless operation on heavy panes. Worth it over about 2.5m per pane; usually not below that.
  • Glass weightA double glazed unit is roughly 25kg/m². A 2.5 × 2.4m pane is around 150kg — which affects the gear, the handling on site and sometimes whether you need a crane or a glass robot.

Frequently asked

How much is a 3m sliding patio door?

Around £3,000–£4,500 supplied and fitted for a standard two-pane set. Slim-sightline and lift-and-slide systems cost more.

Is a slider cheaper than a bi-fold?

At the same width, usually yes — fewer panels and much less hardware. The gap grows as the opening gets wider.
